Darlington Academy

As part of the academy framework for education this new build development in Darlington was constructed on two floors with approximately 8000m2 of floor area.

The building was constructed using steel framing with a mixture of blockwork, rain screen cladding and render forming the envelope.

Our scope of works was to construct the SFS envelope to which the external envelope elements were secured. Internal walls were Knauf partitions and wall linings. The ceilings being a mixture of MF and grid.

The unique star shape of the building, incorporating lighting wells at first floor levels, required the construction of several deep bulkheads using perforated Knauf boards to maximise the effect of the dwarf walling and acoustic requirements.
